Earthies

My local newspaper recently announced that a little shoestore nearby was throwing a party to celebrate these shoes. After checking out the website, I can certainly think of no better reason to party. Aren't these the sweetest, sassiest, summeriest sandals you've seen in a while? Are those red ones for real? Actually, the whole collection is on my not-so-secret wish list. Can anyone vouch?

She Turned 5

Here's a little of that back-tracking I warned you about . . . Snook turned 5 in late February. 5!!! Doesn't 5 seem like a big birthday? I know that's about the age when I started forming some very vivid and lasting childhood memories.I'm pretty confident she will at least have happy memories of her birthday. Think ice-skating, loved ones, and the most delicious chocolate cake. It will be so crazy to hear her version of events someday. I love my girl.

What I've Been Up To

If you're gonna be a blogger, then blog, right? Boy have I been breaking that rule for the better part of this year thus far. There are the usual suspects: Facebook, Instagram (follow each other?), on-line Scrabble, and a smattering of Pinterest. There's also my love affair with my Nook. I've been doing so much late-night-pleasure-reading it's ridiculous. But the primary culprit, and I think close Snook 'n' Bubs watchers may have seen this coming, is . . . Zumba! Yep, I've gone completely zonkers for Zumba. To the point that I joined a team and we have actual weekly rehearsals and gigs! It takes up A LOT of my time, but as long as my husband (and kids) don't mind too much, and so far they've been beyond supportive and cool, then I certainly don't mind. It's such a blast, and it's especially fun to hang with people who are just as coo coo as me.

Here we are doing our thing at the San Diego County Fair last Saturday (I'm in pink): That's Bubs in orange, my niece in pink, and Snook in purple! See, Zumba is fun for the whole family!Look at the crowd! That's my mom seated at the corner of the dance floor wearing a blue shirt and sunglasses. My dad is right behind her in the hat. I don't think they ever thought they'd see me in another dance recital. :)
At another gig two Saturdays ago. That's me in white. My family and Jora and Alice came! And yet another gig. This time in yellow.

So that's where I've been spending a good deal of time and energy. But my plan is to come back here a whole lot more. There's probably going to be some back-tracking at first because while 2011 has certainly had its share of downers, there have also been some beautiful highlights that I'd love to share. And when I visit you, which I still do on a daily basis, I promise to be a better commenter. Commentator? Anyway, it's good to be back!
