The Big Apple. A Day.

What's the next best thing to going to New York? Stringing together the brightest lights in the big city to create the perfect NYC fantasy day, courtesy of the recommendations in Gotham Magazine. That's what. But first-- how hot is Jessica Biel in this cover shoot? Sure, she routinely gets dismal red carpet reviews. But I think that makes her all the more real, therein adding to her appeal. Now that you're in the fantasy frame of mind, let's get back to plotting our perfect adventure shall we? I think after their recent $100 million renovation, we would do well to start off our day by waking up at The Pierre.Swoon-worthy, no? But now I'm swooning with hunger. Don't they have any food in this town? Seems the only way we're going to ease those pangs is by heading over to breakfast at Billy's. I realize one doesn't normally eat a cupcake first thing in the morning. But really, how different is that from a doughnut? Now that we're sated, it's off to the Paul Kasmin Gallery to admire Claude and Francois-Xavier Lalanne's Tourterelle. Tell me, do you think it would be possible to have a conversation in this chair about anything other than this chair? Art always makes me hungry, how about you? And since we were so good at breakfast, I think we deserve to indulge at Sweetiepie. Gotham billed this place as kid-friendly, probably because of the pink balloons and gilded birdcage. But I don't know. It's an absinthe lounge that has been described as "the imaginary restaurant that your little sister wanted to open when she was 11—but with hard alcohol." We might have to make this a grown-up-ladies-only liquid lunch.

Fully fortified, it's time to shop. How about stepping in to Peter Som to pick up this gorgeous number to step out in tonight?
And now, my feet are killing me. I suggest we duck into Sweet Lily for a little tootsie pampering. Not hearing any protests . . . Here they use only Zoya polish. Because it's long-wearing and free of formaldehyde, toluene and phthalates, doncha know? Check out the La-Di-Da Collection! And for our nighttime culture, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Inspired!Would you believe it, we're famished again. Dinner might have to be at Buddakan. You must be kidding me with this main hall!Well, that's all the fantasy we have time for today. Exhausting but exhilarating, wouldn't you agree? Only in . . . You know how it ends.
