Sumo Hot Pot

Dinner was a truly literary experience a couple of nights ago. You see, one of my kids' favorite books, and one that Bubs is already asking for by name, is Sumo Boy. They love the vibrant illustrations, the triumph of good over evil, and Sumo Boy's epic battle cry, "Dosukoi!" Well, as the story goes, after Sumo Boy takes down the big bully, he invites the scared little girl back to the dojo for some sumo hot pot. This is the point where Snook always asks, "What's sumo hot pot?" Finally, after countless unsatisfactory soup analogies, the H found a hot pot recipe and served the kids up their own, real-life sumo hot pot.Bubs practicing his overarm throw!
It was a sensation. Although I can't for the life of me figure out how sumo wrestlers maintain their impressive physiques on this diet. Chicken broth, tofu, scallions . . . Sounds more like a celebrity weight-loss diet to me.
